Today I watched AlJazeeraEnglish hosted by Ghida Fakhry on Witness program. Although it's a repeat story from AlJazeeraEnglish September 30, 2008; but the value to be shared on here is very precious where from what I looked into it how important is the use of social engineering method in solving social problems.

A successful social engineering method applied by Bihar's railway police in fighting crime cases in Bihar, India. The result speaks itself from their hard work by using music world drummed up the crime alert among citizens and the crime rate gradually reduced. The lyrics very persuasive inculcating listeners to beware of notorious activities happening around their life circles and making them cautious on the ambiguity of causes and effects.

Let us focus on the story contained in the lyrics, details;

The intro campaign of RPF (Railway Police Force);

Passengers, please co-operate with us. We'll make sure you travel safely, in peace without being afraid of anyone.

The lyrics;

This is an announcement from the RPF to all the citizens
The RPF is running a campaign for you
Listen to us carefully
The wife says to the husband
"Darling don't get into a train without a ticket, you're not a thief'
The wife says to the husband
"Darling don't get into a train without a ticket, you're not a thief'

Statement made by M.S.D. GUPTA

"The people from the state of Bihar are poor. They travel different states in search of a living as daily labourers. After earning for an entire season they return home.

While they are travelling back criminal elements feed them drugs to make them unconscious and loot them.

Then I thought, why don't we highlight this through songs? In the current year, after this campaign there has been no cases in the entire division of passengers being drugged.

Before most stations would report such cases on a regular basis. As the divisional inspector I am glad to see there are no such cases now." - M.S.D. Gupta
